NPR Podcasts allows you to download or stream almost any NPR program out there, including ones produced at local NPR stations. The program allows you to save your favorite stations or programs for quick access, shows you a summary of each podcast, and can roughly plot a station's location on Google Maps. The only complaints I have is that you cannot stop a download once it has started and if you do not stop one stream before you start another, you will have two playing at the same time.

StreamFurious is a streaming audio player for Android. It can play shoutcast/icecast streams (including .m3u/.pls files from your browser) and includes a built-in list of user contributed stations. It is capable of playing in the background so you can continue to use other programs while you listen. StreamFurious may take a minute to buffer a stream before it starts playing but rarely has a problem once it begins.

Simon Tatham's Puzzles (also called Puzzles on Android) is a port of Simon Tatham's single player puzzle games. There are 27 games total, many of them are familiar games such as Fifteen (arrange numbered tiles in order), Solo (usually called sudoku), Mines (minesweeper), and Pegs (where the pegs jump over each other to remove all but one). Most of the games look rather bland in black, gray and white.

GPS Status displays information such as latitude, longitude, accuracy, altitude, speed, acceleration, and GPS time. If you are moving faster than 5 km/h, GPS Status can set the orientation by the GPS satellites instead of the compass for greater accuracy. The interface is a little cluttered but works quite well. It can also measure the strength of the magnetic field, which is handy if you want to see what affect a magnetic phone case my have on your device. GPS status will prompt you to turn on your GPS if it is turned off.

Solitaire is a collection of Klondike, Spider, and Freecell card games. It uses the touch screen, has an undo option, and keeps track of your statistics. One thing I really enjoy about this game is "flinging" a card with your finger and watching the game auto-move other cards in the sequence.

Coloroid is a game where you turn a grid of multiple colored boxes into one solid color in a limited amount of turns. It is simple, fun, and addictive. The repetative gameplay can get old, but so does solitaire card games and both are still a great way to pass short amounts of time.
